| NHTSA issues antidistraction guidelines for manufacturers | Following a year-long comment period on an antidistraction draft, the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration released finalized guidelines for automakers on making cabin electronics that will not distract drivers. NHTSA did not go so far as to write regulations, which is good because the guidelines reveal how out-of-touch the government is with real driving habits. NHTSA's own research also shows that it is giving the distraction issue undue attention, as well under one percent of crashes from 2006 to 2010 were caused by distraction stemming from an in-vehicle control. | Read more | Share:
